While we haven’t had the chance to visit Tokyo yet, it’s certainly on our family travel bucket list. Our toddler loves animals, and I can only imagine how delighted she would be to see the pandas in real life. The park itself is also a great spot for a relaxing family stroll, with wide pathways and plenty of space for little ones to run around.
Another family favourite is Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea. Tokyo’s version offers a distinctly Japanese twist on the Disney experience. With its mix of beloved characters, thrilling rides, and themed lands, it’s the perfect place for both children and adults to immerse themselves in a day of fun. For families travelling with toddlers, Tokyo Disneyland also offers plenty of rides and attractions suitable for younger children, as well as baby care centres and child-friendly dining options.

While Tokyo is undoubtedly known for its futuristic vibe, it’s also a city steeped in rich culture and history. One of the best things about visiting Tokyo with family is the chance to introduce children to Japan’s traditions in an interactive and engaging way.
A must-visit for families is Asakusa, home to the famous Senso-ji Temple, one of Tokyo’s oldest and most significant temples. Walking through the vibrant Nakamise Shopping Street on the way to the temple is an experience in itself, with traditional snacks and souvenirs to enjoy along the way. While our daughter may be too young to fully appreciate the historical significance of the temple, she would undoubtedly enjoy the colourful surroundings and the chance to explore the lively area.
For older children, a visit to the Samurai Museum in Shinjuku could be an exciting introduction to Japan’s legendary warriors. The museum showcases authentic samurai armour and weapons, and there are even opportunities to try on replica armour and participate in interactive sword demonstrations – a thrilling experience for any child with an interest in history or fantasy.

Even though our toddler might not yet appreciate the world of anime, there’s plenty to see and experience, from arcades filled with family-friendly games to interactive shops with life-sized figures of beloved characters.
